Day 51. Urban Decay Fun Palette [Review & swatches]

For today I am going to review the Urban Decay Fun palette.
A word of warning: I do not own the new edition of the palette. The new version has a soft-plastic case with a zipper and some of the eyeshadows may have new formulas. The Fun palette I own is the old version, that came with a carton box. The color are the same though.

Keep reading for review and swatches!

The Urban Decay Fun Palette contains 6 eyeshadow and a medium sized 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil. In this post, I'll be focusing on the eyeshadows. For a review of the eye pencil please refer to this post.

Each eyeshadow pan contains 0.9g of product. For comparison, the single, full size pan is 1.5g.

This palette has definitely fun shades!

The first two shades are Woodstock and Sin.

Swatches for UD Woodstock (top) and Sin (bottom) in natural light (middle picture) and flash (right). In each picture, the first swatch is eyeshadow over primer, the second on bare skin.
UD Woodstock is a intense fuchsia color, with blue undertones. It has a demi-matte finish, I would say. The sheen is very subtle. It's a bit powdery and may require more than a swipe to get full color.

UD Sin is a fantastic shimmery pinky beige shade. It's a perfect for highlighting the brow or the inner corner of the eye, but it also works as overall lid color for a luminous nude look. It has a buttery texture and applies evenly.

The second and third color are Baked and Flipside.

Swatches for UD Baked (top) and Flipside (bottom) in natural light
(middle picture) and flash (right). In each picture, the first swatch is eyeshadow over primer, the second on bare skin.
UD Baked is a fantastic golden bronze metallic shade. I think this may be the best shade from Urban Decay. It's buttery, soft, one swipe delivers an opaque coverage and intense color.

UD Flipside is a teal shade with silver shimmer. It applies well but it may need a few swipe of your brush to reach full intensity.

The last shades are Uzi and Psychedelic Sister.

Swatches for UD Uzi (top) and Psychedelic Sister (bottom) in natural light
(middle picture) and flash (right). In each picture, the first swatch is
eyeshadow over primer, the second on bare skin.
UD Uzi is a white shade with silver glitter. It's not a good shade, may be the worst shade from Urban Decay. It's stiff in the pan and it's difficult to pick up with a brush. The glitter falls off very, very easily.

UD Psychedelic Sister is a purple color with a subtle shimmer. The color pay off is good, but this shade definitely need a eye primer/base to shine and to apply evenly.

Overall I think the UD Fun palette is a nice palette with excellent value for money. The only dud shade is UZI, but on the other hand the palette has Baked, one of the most beautiful eyeshadow ever, at least in my opinion. Flipside, Sin and Psychedelic Sister are good shade as well.

If you are the daring type, this is definitely the palette for you. If you are more conservative with your look, I think you can skip this and buy Sin and Baked separately!
