Day 86. Kiko Nail Lacquer in 389 [review & swatches]

Kiko is having a giveaway on their falion fans on their facebook: you have to like the Kiko facebook page and register on the 1 million fans app. Once you do you get a coupon to get a nail polish for free. I did this two days ago and popped at one of the stores in my town and picked up the nail lacquer in 389.

Kiko Nail Lacquer in #389 is a robin egg blue color, a couple of shades lighter than the famous Tiffany blue: this also makes the #389 nail polish from Kiko almost a perfect dupe for Dior Vernis in 401 Saint-Tropez. #389 is slightly greener.

Swatch for Kiko Nail Lacquer in 389

While the color is fantastic, application is not up to par. The nail polish is kind of streaky, but sheer. To get the coverage you see in the pictures below I had to layer 3 coats of nail polish. After two coats it was acceptable, but three coats made it completely opaque.

With no base or top coat I get about 1 full day of wear without chipping. Lasting power is a little bt longer with a base and a top coat. Please take notice that I work at a computer all day long so my nails are subject to a lot of wear.

The value for money is excellent, as each nail polish is about 2.50€.

Overall I like the shade and I am willing to work up to three coats of polish to get full coverage, since I got it for free!
