Day 103. Dr Hauschka Eyeshadow Duo 07 [review & swatches]

Today's post is about Dr. Hauschka Eyeshadow Duo in 07, which I had the pleasure of using extensively recently and that I loved despite its flaws!

The eyeshadow duo comes in a square lucid, black plastic case with the Dr. Hauschka name and logo printed in golden color.

The case is small and compact but sturdy: I can totally see it becoming one of my favorite make up items to take with me in my travels.
Once opened, there is a handy little mirror on the back of the top lid. There is a little double end plastic applicator in the case as well.

Each eyeshadow is 1,3g/0.05oz. and are made of natural ingredients, with no synthetic preservatives. Since the ingredients are all natural, this product has an expiration date, which is printed in the back of the little cardboard box the eyeshadow duo comes in. Please take note that the same date is printed on the label on the back of the plastic case.

The two shades contained in Duo 07 are Soft Cinnamon 01 (Cannelle Douce) and Deep Bronze 02 (Bronze Profond). They are both nude shades that will fit most skin tones.

Soft Cinnamon is a matte light warm beigy color. The color printed on the box is so much redder than what the shade really is. With no primer it applies easily and evenly but tends to be very sheer. The color payoff is so much better with a primer. It's kind of stiff and powdery in the pan but it's easily handled once it's on the brush.

The second shade is called Deep Bronze. As far as I am concerned, this shade is more a taupe color than anything else. In my opinion the name is misleading, as this shade lacks the warmth and the reddish gold undertones a true bronze shade should have. This does not make it a bad shade, just an improperly named one.
While it applied evenly, it's very sheer without a primer. The color is su much more intense and opaque if used over a primer. It very similar in properties to Soft Cinnamon: powdery and kind of stiff in the pan but easy to work with when you are applying it.

I do love this Duo: the eyeshadows are perfect for a nude look but can be layered and made intense for a more "smokey" look, if so required.
