Day 30. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyepencil [Swatches & Review]

Today a post dedicated to my hands-down favorite eyeliner pencils, the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyepencil. I have several of these eye pencils, in different states of wear. While swatching and taking pictures I realize that I use some of them a lot more then others.

As you will see, the bulk of the pencils belongs to the 15th Anniversary eyepencil set, but nine out of 15 of these pencils are permanent shades so I thought it would be nice to swatch them all.
I own a total of 13 permanent shades and 7 LE shades, considering all the UD eye pencil from different sets and the two shades I purchased separately.

So, on with the review and the swatches!

Day 29. Aurora Borealis

For the following turquoise-blue-green-purple-reddish-brown look I took inspiration from the colors of the  Aurora Borealis'. It mixes matte and shimmer finishes and several colors.

- Urban Decay 27/7 Glide-On eye pencil in Ransom.
- Maybelline Feather Look Volum'Express Mascara

Day 28. Kiss with a fist

Today looks is inspired by Florence + the Machine song "Kiss with a fist" which came up while I was about to do my make up. I did an agrressive, dark and matte colored eye make up (which may kind of look like  a bruise) but that at the same time I think it complements my eye color beautifully.

Products:
- Sleek Make Up iDivine Ultra Matte V2 (Dark Mattes) palette in Maple (purple-burgundy color), Paper Bag (brown color), and Dune (beige/nude color)
- Make Up For Ever Aqua Black
- Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara

Day 27. Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara Review

I recently got a sample size of the Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara and I have been testing it for the last few days, and today I think I am ready for a review.

Day 26. Silver lining

Today look was inspired by a mineral eyeshadow my friend S. gave me a few days ago and that she couldn't get to work. It's a pretty light and sedated look for my standards but I think it works well for day look! I also think it's quite simple and elegant.

Products:
- Neve Cosmetics loose powder eyeshadow in Sirenetta
- Make Up For Ever Aqua Black gel eyeliner
- Mac Chromagraphic Pencil in NW25/NC30
- Dior Iconic Overcurl Mascara
- Dr Hauschka Novum Lipstick in 08

Once again a pink day look (I'm sensing a theme here).

Products:
- Kiko long lasting eyeshadow sticks in 05 and 15

I patted the pink shade (15) on my lid, then I applied the shimmery browser shade (05) in the crease and blended upwards. In the inner corner I dabbed a bit of the pink mineral kohl. Finally I applied a coat of mascara to my eyelashes.

Day 22. Where to shop for make up and skin care products in Italy [1]

If you ever find yourself in need of make up and skin care products in Italy, there are not many places where to go, especially if you are in a small town far away from the biggest cities.

Your best chance to find these products are supermarkets. Any kind of supermarkets (Esselunga, Coop, etc.) of any dimension will have some kind of beauty aisle.

Day 18. Day look (with a twist).

This is one of my typical, neutral day looks. It has a slight twist, though, because I used a pink eyepencil on the lower lash line. When I do a neutral look I like to use colors (pink or any other color) in a subtle way to make the look unexpected.

  Products:
- Mac Painterly Paint Pot (all over the lid, up to the brow)
- Mac Omega Eyeshadow (on the lid)
- Mac Cork Eyeshadow (blended in the crease and slightly above)
- Mac Gessi Eyeshadow (brow bone)
- Mac Rich Ground Fluid Line (winged eyeliner)
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil in Asphyxia (bottom lash line and waterline)
- Kik Super Color Mascara in 04

Day 17. Cranberry nights and days.

Another post with my sister.
She asked me to do her make up again, and I accepted. I pushed the envelope with her today, because, OMG, I dared to use color! and she's a black liner and mascara kind of girl.

I kept it easy since my sister likes simple make up looks. I did something similar to my "rockin' soft plum" look, but I added a layer of Mac Cranberry Eyeshadow to give it more of a spark. Also, I tried not to go overboard and kept the eyeshadow contained: as under the crease as possible, and not too open on the sides.

Here's the look!
As you can see it's very simple, but has a hint of color that brings out my sister's eyes!
It's a look that's appropriate both for day and night, not to out there but really nice and clean looking!

Products:
- Make Up For Ever in 17
- Make Up For Ever Aqua Black
- Mac Cranberry Eye Shadow
- Maybelline Feather Look Volum'Express Mascara

Two more pictures after the jump!

As you can see form the picture above, Mac Cranberry makes the look more sparkly and intense than just the Aqua Cream! and the eyeshadow doesn't only add color, but also works as a stopper for the cream eyeshadow (not that the MUFE aqua cream needs any help with staying in place!).

The eyeliner is a simple black line, only slightly winged!

So what do you think? Should my sister dare more?

Day 16. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream

A few month ago I decided to buy the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream after I heard several beauty guru talking about it.

This cream was invented in 1930 and it's magical. I'll tell you why after the jump!

Day 15. Discreet.

[Edit 01/18/2012: added watermaked pictures to the post]

Quick post today, pictures without watermarks or frames because I am in a place where the internet connection is awful and cannot access my edit service. Pictures on the facebook page for the same reason.

This look is not discreet at all. I make no difference between day or night look, every morning I do my make using the colors I feel. So today I felt like doing a mermaid inspired look. So I did.

Products:
- E.L.F. Studio Cream Eye Shadow in Teal Party
- Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette in Deep End (outer 3/4 of the eyes), Omen (inner 1/4 of the eyes), Vanilla (very inner corner of the eyes as highlight), M.I.A. (lower lid)
- Mac Fluidline in Rich Ground
- Kiko Super Color Mascara in 04

Day 14. [Review] Neve Cosmetics Intensissimi Palette

Today I am reviewing the Neve Cosmetics Intensissimi Palette.
I used a couple of colors for my Greenleaf look a few days ago, and since I posted a picture of the whole palette, I thought it would be nice to make a full review of this products.

So without farther ado, here's my review!

Neve Cosmetics Intensissimi palette. My camera didn't pick up the colors right!
Keep reading for a more accurate rendering of the colors!

Day 10. Naturally

The look for today is on my sister B., who kindly let me take pictures of her eyes and post them on my blog.

B. doesn't like colorful make up, so she wanted something light and natural. Since she was in a rush, I used cream products, easy to apply and blend.

Products:
- Elf Cream Shadow in Bronzed and Natural Glow
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyepencil in Bourbon
- Kiko Super Color Mascara in 04

No products on the cheek or lips because B. didn't want any.
On her face, she used MUFE HD Foundation in N120 and Benefit Erase Paste in n.2.

Pictures are especially crappy today, as I was the one who took them, and I am a crappy photographer. Sorry!

Day 7. Spoiled brat

A quick look using Wet'n'Wild Spoiled Brat eyeshadow trio. While the trio suggests where to apply the colors (fuchsia on the eyelid, black on the crease, silver on the browbone), I took the liberty to do something a little different.

Products:
- Wet'n'Wild Spoiled Brat eyeshadow trio
- Mac Powder Blush in Melba
- Kiko Lipstick (unknown name/number - will update when I found the info)

Day 6. Lip care: Carmex

My lips are always, always dry and chapped. No matter what I eat or how much water I drink, the weather, the lipstick I wear, or anything else. Dry lips. It's a curse.

I tried every lip balm available where I live, but nothing helped. Only recently I have found something that helps. It may seem obvious to some of you but I sweat, to me it was a revelation. Carmex. Carmex is my savior.

Day 5. Almost nude

The look for Day 5 is one of my favorite. It's suitable for work, or just to go out, for the day or for the night. The eye make up is really basic, almost nude, easy to do, but you can play with the lip color, to make the whole look more daring.

An autumn-winter look in plum, with a hard edge given by the black liner.

Face Products for winter!

These are products I use every morning, with the only exception of the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation Primer, which I only use when I know it's going to be a very long day (12/15 hours or more). After making up my face with this products and nothing else, I can go out and be confident that I look ok and not like a zombie.

Winter Basics: Skin Care

While on this blog you only see my eyes, my cheeks and my lips, I think it's important for you to know what I use to do my skin prep and my foundation/concealer routine for the winter season. This post is dedicated to my skin care routine.

While I am not fanatic about only using organic/bio/natural cosmetics, it's been a year or so that I started using skin care products from Dr. Hauschka, a natural cosmetics brand. Dr. Hauschka (links go to the English version of the original German website) is a German brand with a long history, and strict policies about product sustainability and origin.

I have combination skin (normal to oily) and since I started using Dr. Hauschka products I get lest spots and breakouts, and my skin feels very soft and elastic. I will never have beautiful and spotless skin, but I think these products really helped improving my skin situation.
Using these products also makes me feel better about the substances that get into my body via skin: all Dr. Hauschka products are natural and organic. I think this balances out all the crap my body absorbs during the day.

Introduction

Hello and welcome to 365 Days of Make Up!

My name is E. and I'll be your host here at 365 Days of Make Up blog.

I'm in my late 20s, Italian and a Make Up addict.
While I spent all my teenage years and good part of my twenties without giving a crap about make-up, in 2010 I found myself wanting to do my own make up look, a dear friend of mine took me to a Mac counter in my town and it's been downhill since then.

Since I have been taking pictures of my looks and writing reviews for a private group on Facebook for the past two years, I though it would be nice to share them with the Beauty/MakeUp community out there. This is the idea behind this blog

So: I am not a professional Make Up Artist, I just enjoy doing my own make up (sometimes also other people's) and talking about cosmetics.

The plan is to post every day of 2013 with pictures of the make up looks I do or with reviews and comments of products I use.
I welcome any kind of feedback (be kind, please! I am fragile!)

You will not find any new products here: All product are well loved and purchased in the past 2/3 years by yours truly. The pictures of the cosmetics will reflect their use, be warned!

All the pictures will be taken with my iPhone 4S camera or with my crappy compact camera. I'll do my best with what I have!

So, thank you for stopping by and please, feel free to comment, post feedback, ask any question you may have!
